About the Minnetonka Choristers Choir
This ensemble for MAM’s youngest singer is open to boys and girls in grades K-2 and is a unique opportunity to introduce children to the love of singing in a choir.
Children’s learning focuses on vocal exploration and beautiful, healthy unison singing while learning a variety of folk songs from around the world. This ensemble learns to sing in different languages and to read an octavo. Through Kodaly and Dalcroze methodologies, the children learn how to read rhythms and sing using solfege. Weekly lessons are filled with pitch matching games, singing, and dancing. This ensemble is a non-performing group, but it will sing in the annual spring concert with the other MAM youth choirs. This “prep” choir will also allow for a smooth transition to the Cappella Choir, where two-part singing is introduced.
The choir rehearses from 5:00 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. on Thursdays from September through May at the Arts Center on 7, 18285 Highway 7, Minnetonka. (adjacent to Minnetonka High School). There is no audition process to join the Choristers Choir. If a child loves to sing, they are welcome to join.
