About the Symphony Orchestra

mso300The Minnetonka Symphony Orchestra, now in its 35th season, performs 10 concerts in the western metro area each year. Membership is by audition. Rehearsals and concerts are on Sundays from September through June. The Minnesota Chamber Orchestra is comprised of members of the Symphony Orchestra.

Past repertoire of these ensembles includes:

    * Symphonies by Mahler, Mozart, Sibelius, Dvorak, Beethoven, Bruckner, Shostakovich
    * Overtures by Rossini, Weber
    * Night on Bald Mountain, Billy the Kid, Grand Canyon Suite, Espana, Songs of the 
       Wayfarer, Rhapsody in Blue, Firebird Suite
    * Verdi and Faure Requiems

Besides performing concerts at the Arts Center on 7, the Symphony Orchestra also performs at MAM's annual Messiah concert and plays in concert with the winner of the MAM Young Artist Competition.  The orchestra also performs an annual concert in conjunction with the BRAVO! program offered in the public school system and offers concerto performances by orchestra and community soloists.
