About the Minnetonka Senior Chorale

The Minnetonka Senior Chorale performs approximately 12-15 concerts from September through May at local retirement centers, church groups and senior centers. They rehearse Wednesday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to noon in the Purgatory Creek Room, Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd, Minnetonka.

This ensemble has no auditions, but the level of proficiency and the type of music the choir sings have set high standards for the choir. The music literature performed includes patriotic, folk and art songs, show tunes and religious compositions.

About the Director

Dr. Roger Hoel, the music director of the Senior Chorale, wrote an article about the Senior Chorale for the American Choral Directors of America Journal. He “believes the music so lovingly placed in our hearts early in our lives should be heard, played, and sung all our days. The wobbles, pitch problems, loud basses, and memory lapses may be daunting, but they’re not insurmountable. In fact, those problems are often the greatest sources of fun and laughter. May the joy of singing remain with us all our lives”.
